Saw this question on one of our friend's redline site, thought it was pertinent today.
Are you adding new diecast cars to to your collection lately? Hunting, buying on ebay, other? Or has the economy slowed down your pace?
I had to slow it down since money needed to go to necessities. Play cash is not in the budget right now, so I buy the occasional retail car while in department stores just to feed the jones once in a while. Not as satisfying, but at least I can…

I hope all our friends here at DN have a great/safe holiday season. If you're a drinker, a toast to you! If you're not, we'll sip some tea and fall asleep. Either way, sleep is imminent.

I'm not a member this year, but they are selling a nice spectraflame version with neo redlines next week. If I didn't have to join the club and buy the AMX, I would get one-it looks super nice.
Don't know if you can see it without joining, but here's the link:http://www.hotwheelscollectors.com

from protoncharging.comThe Hot Wheels version of the Ghostbusters Ecto-1 has been one of the most hotly sought after castings in the 2010 mainline at retail. As a result, Hot Wheels decided to create the most detailed 1:64 version of the Ecto-1 to date and sell it at SDCC. Featuring a die-cast body, die-cast chassis, Real Rider tires, and a box that looks like Ghostbusters… Continue

Up in remote sections of New England, pegs chock loaded with regular mainlines. I go hunting for my nephews who get a kick out of any type of chase car. Guess all store employees have second businesses on ebay!
Just reinforces my feelings about collecting original Redlines! Might be more expensive, but it's way more satisfying. A $50 tank of gas and wasted time is easily worth one nice red.

....and found the pegs overflowing with new mainlines. Didn't buy any, as it was very apparent the store employees picked clean the Treasure Hunts and Ecto Caddys. I don't hunt for new carded cars anymore, but I stop in once in a while to get cars for my nephews-their faces light up over the green stripe!
Another reason to save gas and time-stick with redlines!

I am lucky enough to be able to continue to collect diecast cars in the current economy, but some of my friends are not.
How has it impacted you if at all?

Sweet car, I picked one up. Dig the snowmobile in the back too.

There will be a 1:64 scale two-car diorama with the 68 green Mustang GT and black 68 Charger released late this year or in Janauary. Retail will be $9.99. Don't pay attention to the pics on the internet right now, because the cars are wrong-they are just image placeholders, according to Greenlight.
I can't wait for this one!

I posted this on HWC earlier.....
I ask my teenage son to go with me, he collects El Caminos. That is, if I can get him up at the ungodly hour of 8AM on a Saturday. He'll grab a couple of cars for himself or his nieces and nephews who get the loose ones after I rip them for the mail-in promo. This will be my last one. Old ladies coming by and asking "what's this all about?" getting a ticket, then asking people what should they be looking for? No wonder the store employees hate doing… Continue

When accepting cash for you diecast sale, be on the lookout for these-they only have as much value as a regular US $100 dollar bill.
